• The Union Cabinet chaired by the Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi has approved 'Pradhan Mantri Gramin Digital Saksharta Abhiyan' (PMGDISHA) to make 6 crore rural households digitally literate.
The outlay for this project is Rs.2,351.38 crore to usher in digital literacy in rural India by March,.2019.


• Technology major Google has won a deal to set up its first city-wide Wi-Fi project called Google Station in Pune.


• The government of India has appointed three non-official directors (Ashok Gulati, Manish Sabharwal and Rajiv Kumar) on the Reserve Bank of India’s board for a period of four years.


• Model Bella Hadid has been appointed the accessories ambassador of Italian jewellery and luxury goods brand 'Bulgari'.


• Dr P Raghu Ram, President of Association of Breast Surgeons of India was awarded prestigious Dr B C Roy national award for outstanding service in the field of socio-medical relief for 2016.


• Maharashtra CM Devendra Fadnavis handed over the awards for Best Actor and Most Versatile Personality of the Year to Gurmeet Ram Rahim Singh at the Bright Awards 2017.


• Salman Rushdie has announced his new novel titled 'The Golden House'.


• India defeated Nepal by 152 runs to clinch their 6th successive victory in the T20 World Cup for Blind.


• Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose’s driver and INA veteran ‘Colonel’ Nizamuddin has passed away in his native village of Dhakwa in Azamgarh after a prolonged illness.


• Gujarat has become the first state in India to establish Cashless system for distribution of food grain to the beneficiaries under NFSA (National Food Security Act).


• The Union Ministry of Commerce under Nirmala Sitharaman has approved the pilot Revenue Insurance Scheme for Plantation Crops (RISPC) to protect the growers of plantation crops from the twin risks.


• The Ministry of Railways launched the first phase of Station Redevelopment Programme on February 8, 2017 for commercial development of 23 stations across India. The total outlay of the project in the first phase is expected to be worth Rs 9,000 crore.


• The Union Ministry of Human Resource Development has constituted a sub-committee of Central Advisory Board of Education (CABE) under Chairmanship of Telangana’s Deputy Chief Minister Kadiyam Srihari to look into issues related to girls education .


• Mohit Ahlawat became the first batsman in the world to score a 300 in a T20 match. While the match had no official status and was only a local match played in Delhi.
