• The Union Cabinet has given its approval to the proposal for India’s taking full membership of the International Vaccine Institute (IVI) Governing Council. This decision involves payment of annual contribution of US $5,00,000 to the IVI (headquartered in Seoul, South Korea).

• The 2nd edition of Ministry of External Affairs’ annual Raisina Dialogue was held in New Delhi.
This year's Theme : “The New Normal: Multilateralism in a multipolar world”.


• As many as 20,000 youths in Ganga basin states will be trained and deployed as 'Swachhta Doots' in about 2,336 villages to spread a message of keeping the river clean.


• Actress Shabana Azmi has been nominated in the Best Supporting Actress category for the upcoming 11th Asian Film Awards, to be held on March 21 in Hong Kong.
She has been nominated for her role in the film 'Neerja'.

• The 58th edition of India International Garment Fair, IIGF  begins in New Delhi.


• Indian passport has been ranked a lowly 78 in a global ranking of the world’s most powerful passports which was topped by Germany.


• Bharat Sanchar Nigam Ltd (BSNL)  announced mobile TV service ‘Ditto TV’ and limited fixed mobile telephony, an app that virtually turns mobiles into cordless phone working in sync with landlines within home premises.


• Farrukh Amonatov of Tajikistan won the 15th edition of the Delhi International Chess tournament after settling for a draw with Grandmaster Diptayan Ghosh in the 10th and final round.


• Mawlynnong village in the East Khasi Hills district of the Meghalaya state has become a role model for cleanliness said by the Secretary of the village. Mawlynnong was awarded the prestigious tag of ‘Cleanest Village in Asia‘ in 2003.


• Kangra first ever district in Himachal Pradesh achieved the geo-tag 100 per cent of the assets generated under the MGNREGA  said by Himachal Pradesh CM Chief Minister Virbhadra Singh.


• India’s IT Hub, Bengaluru has been ranked at the top position in the 2017 City Momentum Index released by Jones Lang LaSalle (JLL) at the World Economic Forum Annual Meeting being held in Davos.
