Daily Current Affairs Update --- 9th & 10th April 2017



• Narendra Modi and his Bangladeshi counterpart Sheikh Hasina  have flagged off the trial run of a passenger train service between Kolkata and Bangladesh's Khulna.
Named Maitree Express-2, it is the second passenger train between India and Bangladesh.


• The National Mission for Clean Ganga (NMCG) has approved 26 projects worth ₹2,154.28 crore under the Centre's 'Namami Gange' programme, aiming to reduce the river's pollution load.


• Lewis Hamilton defeated Ferrari's four-time Formula One World Champion Sebastian Vettel to lift his fifth title at the Chinese Grand Prix .


• Vriksh organized India’s first micro-drama festival,Titled “Thespis” in Delhi .


• Indian-origin educationist Asha Khema in UK named ‘Asian Businesswoman of the Year’ .


• Smita Sandhane has taken charge as Managing Director of the Saraswat Co-operative Bank .


• The Agriculture Ministry joined hands with the National Remote Sensing Centre (NRSC), a wing of Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) to geo-tag agricultural assets for their real-time monitoring and effective utilization.


• The 12th edition Indo-Mongolian Joint Military Exercise Nomadic Elephant 2017 has begun at Vairengte in Mizoram.


• The Bengaluru Police have launched 51 'Pink Hoysalas', the new patrol vehicles, to address complaints related to women and child safety.


• Andhra Pradesh government is going to construct a 125-foot tall bronze statue of BR Ambedkar in its upcoming capital Amaravati.


• Today (10th April) is World Homoeopathy Day.


• Narendra Modi today inaugurated an exhibition ”swachagraha” Bapu Ko Karyanjali” – A Mission, An Exhibition, at the National Archives of India, Janpath, New Delhi.


• To mark 100 years of his Satyagrah movement, three old and seminal publications on Mahatma Gandhi, were today relaunched by the government of India in a "restored" format.
Minister for Information & Broadcasting, M Venkaiah Naidu released these publications.
The 3 publication are :
'Gandhi in Champaran (1957)'
'Romain Rolland and Gandhi Correspondence (1976)'
'Eight-volume biography of Gandhi (1951)'
These were authored by D G Tendulkar.


• Indian team was crowned champions of the Women's Hockey World League Round 2 today after defeating Chile on penalties in the tournament final in Canada.


• Tej Bhadur Singh has set a Guinness World Record for disposing of 6065 cases in just 327 working days.


• Ajit Kumar Srivastava and Shabri Bhattsali appointed members of Cental Board Of Direct Taxes (CBDT).
