• The World Health Day, a global health awareness day, is being observed today (7th April 2016).

• Uruguay will become the first country in the world to allow pharmacies to sell recreational marijuana, starting July.


• Iceland is set to become the first country in the world to neutralise gender pay gap.


•  64th National Film Awards 

° Bollywood actor Akshay Kumar has won best actor for Rustom.

° Malayalam Actress Surabhi Lakshmi won best actress for the film Minnaminungu (The Firefly).

° Best Feature Film went to Marathi film Kaasav (Turtle).

° Sonam Kapoor’s  biographical thriller film Neerja, directed by Ram Madhvani, bagged the Best Hindi film for the year 2016.


• Indian bank has appointed Kishor Kharat as the new Managing Director and CEO of the bank.


• Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan has launched subsidized meal scheme at Rs.5 in Gwalior. This scheme helps people to get economical nutritious and good quality food under the Deendayal Rasoi Yojana at cheaper rates.


• India has ranked 40th out of 136 countries on Global Travel and Tourism Competitiveness Report 2017 published by World Economic Forum (WEF).Spain topped the list, followed by France and Germany.


• India’s first DNA bank for wild animals will be setup by the Indian Veterinary Research Institute (IVRI) at Bareilly in Uttar Pradesh.


• US based National Basketball Association (NBA) has launched its first basketball school in Mumbai, India .


• Union Minister of Information and Broadcasting and Urban Development M Venkaiah Naidu inaugurated a three-day National Children’s Film Festival in Vishakhapatnam, Andhra Pradesh.


• Ratnakar Bank limited (RBL) Bank announced the opening of its Indian Financial System Code (IFSC) Banking Unit (IBU) at Gujarat International Finance Tec-City (GIFT City).


• Modi will launch a special digital exhibition titled 'Bapu Ko Karyanjali' on the Champaran Satyagraha .


• Malala Yousafzai is set to become the United Nations’ youngest-ever ‘Messenger of Peace’.
