• Russia has sought India's EVM technology for 2018 presidential elections.


• China has announced plans to build a new city, a special economic zone, in Hebei province to decongest its capital Beijing.


• Nitin Gadkari said that the first express highway project in India's Northeast region will be developed along the Brahmaputra river in Assam at an estimated cost of ₹40,000 crore.


• World Wide Web inventor Tim Berners-Lee has won the 2016 Turing Award.


• Virat Kohli has been named as the Leading Cricketer in the World for 2016, in this year's edition of the Wisden Cricketer's Almanack.


• According to a new report released by World Travel and Tourism Council (WTTC), India’s is the world’s 7th largest tourism economy in terms of GDP .


• Aditya Birla Idea Payments Bank Ltd. has become the seventh entity to receive a final licence from Reserve Bank of India (RBI) for carrying out the business of payments bank in India.

• The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) has appointed Malvika Sinha as Executive Director (ED).


• The Indian football team jumped 31 places to reach the 101st rank, its best in 20 years, in the latest FIFA rankings .


• Kenichi Yokoyama appointed as the new Country Director of India Resident Mission of the Asian Development Bank (ADB).


• Raman Roy, was a chairman and managing director of Quatrro, been appointed as the new Chairman of National Association of Software and Services Companies (NASSCOM) for the year 2017-18.


• The Reserve Bank of India has released the first Bi-monthly Monetary policy of the new financial year (2017-18). GDP growth has hiked to 7.4% from 6.7%. Rates in the newly released Monetary policy are as follows-

Repo Rate under the Liquidity Adjustment Facility (LAF) unchanged at 6.25%.

The Reverse Repo Rate (RRR) under the Liquidity Adjustment Facility (LAF) has been hiked to 6% from 5.75%.

The Marginal Standing Facility (MSF) rate and the Bank Rate are at 6.50% decline from 6.75%.

Cash Reserve Ratio (CRR) remains unchanged at 4%

Statutory Liquidity Ratio (SLR) also remains unchanged at 20.50%.


• The Manila-headquartered  Asian Development Bank (ADB) lends a $175 million loan to the Power Grid Corporation of India Ltd.
