• The Reserve Bank of India has released the first Bi-monthly Monetary policy of the new financial year (2017-18). GDP growth has hiked to 7.4% from 6.7%. Rates in the newly released Monetary policy are as follows-

Repo Rate under the Liquidity Adjustment Facility (LAF) unchanged at 6.25%.

The Reverse Repo Rate (RRR) under the Liquidity Adjustment Facility (LAF) has been hiked to 6% from 5.75%.

The Marginal Standing Facility (MSF) rate and the Bank Rate are at 6.50% decline from 6.75%.

Cash Reserve Ratio (CRR) remains unchanged at 4%

Statutory Liquidity Ratio (SLR) also remains unchanged at 20.50%.


• The Manila-headquartered  Asian Development Bank (ADB) lends a $175 million loan to the Power Grid Corporation of India Ltd.

Puzzle Que For SBI PO & NIACL 2017 (Part 12 )


   Higher Order Thinking Skills [HOTS] Puzzle
     



Puzzle:1

Eight persons A, B, C, D, E, F, G and H are sitting around a circular table facing the center. They like different colors, Black, Green, Blue, White, Orange, Red, Yellow and Pink but not necessarily in the same order. They also belong to three different cities- Kolkata, Mumbai and Pune. At least two & not more than three persons belong to one city. 

A like Orange and belong to Mumbai and sits on the immediate right of E. Only D and E belong to Kolkata and D sits third to the right of E. F like White and belong to Pune. H belongs to same city as G. G is third to the left of F. B sits opposite the person who likes Pink. C sits exactly opposite the person who likes Black. The persons who like Red and Blue belong to Mumbai. G likes Pink. B likes Blue. The persons who belong to Mumbai do not sit adjacent to each other. The one who likes yellow does not belong to Mumbai or Kolkata. H does not like Red.





Puzzle :2

P, Q, R, S, T, U, V and W are eight friends who live in an eight-storey building. The ground floor is numbered one and the topmost floor is numbered eight. Each of them belong to different cities, Jaipur, Kolkata, Delhi, Mumbai, Pune, Raipur, Ranchi and Patna but not necessarily in the same order. There is only one floor between P and the one who belongs to Patna lives. The person who belongs to Patna does not live on floor numbered 1. S lives just below Q. The one who belongs to Jaipur lives an even numbered floor and just above the floor on which the one who belongs to Pune lives. The person who belongs to Raipur lives on an even numbered floor but not on the 8th floor. Neither S nor W lives on the 1st floor. Only one person lives between the one who belongs to Ranchi and S. P lives on an odd-numbered floor and T lives just above P. Q lives on the fourth floor. 

Only two persons live between the person who belongs to Raipur and P. U lives just below the one who belongs to Pune. S belongs to neither Pune nor Patna. The one who belongs to Delhi does not live on an odd-numbered floor. V does not belong to Kolkata. There are two floors between the floor on which W lives and the floor on which T lives. Only two persons live between the one who belongs Mumbai and the one who belongs to Delhi.

Eight friends namely viz, Mohan, Ravi, Sumit, Manish, Mahesh, Sunita, Amit and Arun like three cities i.e. Mumbai, Agra and Delhi and each of them like a different games i.e. Badminton, Cricket, Tennis, Football, Golf, Racing, Kho-Kho and Archery, but not necessarily in the same order. At least two and not more than three friends like the same city. 

The one who likes Tennis is the only other friend who likes the same city as Manish. Mohan and Amit both like Delhi. Amit does not like Kho-Kho. Manish likes Mumbai and likes Badminton. The one who likes Delhi does not like Racing. Ravi likes Football but does not like Agra. No one from Delhi likes Archery. Arun does not like Tennis and likes same city as Sumit. Sumit likes Archery and Sunita likes Cricket.

Nine friends A,B,C,D,E,F,G,H and I like different companies mobile phone namely Samsung, Sony, Nokia, Apple, LG, HTC, Lenovo, Intex and Jio are sitting in a row from left to right but not necessarily in the same order. Some of them are facing north and some of them are facing south. 
E who likes Intex is sitting along with the one who likes Lenovo. D likes neither Sony nor Lenovo. The one who likes Samsung is sitting immediately left of B. B is sitting in the middle of the row. C is sitting fourth to the right of the one who likes Intex. The one who likes Jio is sitting third to the right of D. The one who likes Nokia and Sony are facing the same direction and sitting together and one of them is sitting at one of the ends. G is sitting two place away from A and they both face opposite directions. 
H likes HTC and is facing in the North direction and is sitting at third position from the right end. The one who likes Apple is sitting 2nd to the right of the person Who likes Sony. I faces in the south direction. The one who likes Apple is facing the direction opposite to that of I. The immediate neighbours of the one who likes Apple is facing the direction same as that of I. The one who likes Apple is neither sitting with the one who likes HTC nor with the one who likes Nokia. G does not like Jio.

• Mr. Thaawarchand Gehlot, Minister for Social Justice and Empowerment launched, first of its kind “Rashtriya Vayoshri Yojana” in Nellore; Andhra Pradesh aimed to make life comfortable for senior citizens of India.


• Finance Ministry has notified the reduction in interest rates on Small Saving Schemes for April-June 2017 quarter by 10 basis points (0.1%) as compared to Jan-Mar 2017 quarter .


• UDAN scheme will start operating from April 2017. Bhatinda and Shimla will be the first towns to be connected, wherein the regional flight is expected to start operating from April 2017.


• Indian railways has announced the 5 Green Corridors under which Barmer Munawab and Pipad Road-Bilara rail routes in Rajasthan have been declared by North Western Railways as Green Corridors. This initiative is taken under “Swachh Rail- Swachh Bharat” mission.
i. The five green corridors are
1.Manamadurai– Rameswaram corridor,
2.Okha-Kanalus corridor,
3.Porbandar-Wasjaliya corridor,
4.Barmer-Munawab corridor and
5.Pipad Road-Bilara corridor.
ii. Among these corridors Manamadurai – Rameswaram is India’s first green corridor.


• South Asia Sub-regional Economic Cooperation (SASEC) program of Asian Development Bank (ADB) accepts Myanmar as its 7th member in 2017.


• Private sector Karnataka Bank in collaboration with SBI Card launched co-branded credit cards for Karnataka Bank customers on March 31, 2017. Two types of credit cards are launched namely
1.Karnataka Bank Platinum SBI card and
2.Karnataka Bank Simply SAVE SBI


• Malaysian Prime Minister Najib Tun Razak is on a six-day visit to India.
