• Cash purchases of jewellery will attract 1% TCS (Tax Collected at Source) from April 1, 2017 if the amount exceeds Rs 2 lakh,as against the current threshold of Rs 5 lakh.


• Country's largest lender State Bank of India (SBI) has rebranded its corporate website as "bank.sbi" from the earlier sbi.co.in.  Bank.sbi is the highest domain protocol, known as generic top level domain (gTLD).


• US President Donald Trump has appointed Lt Gen Herbert Raymond McMaster as his new National Security Advisor following the ouster of Michael Flynn last week.

• Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE Sheikh Mohammad bin Rashid today announced the 'Mars 2117' plan to build the 1st city on Mars in 100 years.


• Renowned Hindi litterateur and playwright Surendra Verma has been selected for the prestigious Vyas Samman Award for the year 2016.
He was chosen for this award for his novel titled Kaatna Shami Ka Vriksha : Padma Pankhuri Ki Dhar Se, which was published in 2010.


• Chinese smartphone maker Xiaomi has promoted its India head Manu Kumar Jain to Global Vice President.


• Mohammad Kaif has been appointed as the assistant coach of Indian Premier League (IPL) team Gujarat Lions for the 10th edition of the tournament starting April 5.


• India's women's cricket team have qualified for the 2017 women's cricket World Cup to be held in June in England.


• Canara Bank has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Human Resource Development (HRD) Ministry to operationalize the Higher Education Financing Agency (HEFA). Through this MoU, HRD Ministry and Canara Bank will jointly promote the HEFA with an authorised capital of Rs. 2,000 crore.


• Mastercard is set to provide payments processing solution to Airtel Payments Bank. Mastercard and Airtel Payments bank have also launched India’s first online debit card along with a prepaid card, both of which is accessible through the Myairtel App.

• The second ocean going sailboat of Indian Navy “Tarini” was successfully inducted by the Navy on February 18, 2017 at a ceremony held at the INS Mandovi Boat Pool in presence of Admiral Sunil Lanba, Chief of Naval Staff. It is the second sailboat after INS Mhadei of Indian Navy.


• Fast Patrol Vessel ICGS AYUSH built by Cochin Shipyard Limited (CSL) was commissioned at the Naval Base in Kochi .
